Water Balloon belongs to Dylan Martinez's most recent body of work, in which he turns to pop art and the objects of childhood. Each balloon is solid glass, sculpted by hand and then sandblasted and acid etched, giving it a soft, matte surface that recalls stretched rubber. Saturated colours and the small knotted neck complete the illusion of a balloon filled with water and ready to burst. The work reverses its subject: an object made to break in an instant becomes dense and lasting. Martinez uses that reversal to evoke nostalgia while questioning the viewer's sense of what a material is.

Please note that each sculpture is a unique creation, and individual pieces may vary from the image due to their handmade nature. This picture serves as an example, our team will reach out to assist you in choosing a set that meets your satisfaction.
