The artwork emphasizes the perpetuation of the iconic Brillant Delvaux bag, but at the same time it is also very interesting how the decomposition raises the question of sustainability of objects and also addresses the pursuit of fashion and trendy collector’s items. The much sought-after status symbol is decomposed and reduced to a sequence of materials and everyday objects, both on the inside and the outside. This critical questioning gives considerable added value to the appreciation of the work. Guy Leclef knows how to play these themes powerfully. They lift the work to a higher level and make it all the more topical, universal and therefore fascinating.
