Dune is a modular wall installation derived from the movement of barchan dunes, the crescent-shaped formations created by wind. Corine van Voorbergen disperses small circular elements across the wall in a drifting configuration, each unit comparable to a grain within a larger mass. The Dutch artist is interested in the double character of such landscapes, which she describes as simultaneously strong and fragile: immense forms that a slight change in the wind can rearrange. The modular structure carries that idea into the work itself, since the composition is built from separate units rather than a single surface. Hand-polished brass links the installation to the individual discs of her wider practice.
