Lost Blush belongs to the monochrome strand of Corine van Voorbergen's practice, in which one colour and its gradations form the entire composition. A bright turquoise centre recedes into deep green and near-black at the perimeter, an effect the Dutch artist achieves by layering pigment and sealing it under a thin coat of epoxy that gives the colour depth and reflects the surrounding space. The title names an absence: the warm tone it refers to is nowhere present in the work. That gap between word and image is left open. A hand-polished brass ring seals the 70 cm disc, which is signed and dated by the artist.
