In Burnt Amber, Corine van Voorbergen builds a painting from one colour and the depth it can hold. Part of her Monos, where emotion is placed at the centre of the work, the piece moves from a warm, saturated amber into near-black, a transition built up on wood through layered pigment. A resin surface gives the colour volume and turns the work into a reflective field that takes in the room around it. The brass ring that seals the edge is polished by hand and carries the marks of that process. At 70 cm, the composition concentrates the artist's interest in the circle as a figure of continuous movement.
