Samar (2026) belongs to Captured Movement, the series in which Corine van Voorbergen sets different media against one another and allows their chemical reactions to shape the composition. Gold and white currents run through a black ground, their branching paths formed by flow rather than by brushwork. The Dutch artist draws on nature throughout the series and has incorporated natural materials such as wood, crushed shells and ash to support its forms. A coat of epoxy arrests the process and gives the surface a reflective depth. Signed and dated, the 110 cm disc is sealed with a hand-polished brass ring and shares its name with an island in the Philippines.
