The work reflects on the tension between what we are given and what we can become. Our environment shapes us, but it does not have to define our limits. To grow is to challenge the boundaries around us, and the boundaries we have placed around ourselves.
The stone represents what is solid: the body, the physical self, the structures and expectations that shape us. From within this weight, something fluid begins to emerge, extending, bending and reaching beyond the boundaries of its origin.
The stone remains what it is. The question is what we allow ourselves to become.
