In 1948, the CoBrA movement shattered the conventions of art. Spontaneous, untamed, and radically free. In Frames Are Made to Be Broken, Forwart’s contemporary artists revisit that spirit, by reimagining its energy through material exploration and modern aesthetics: from sculptural refinement to poetic minimalism and playful interventions. This hommage brings together artists from Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Brussels and Paris, the original CoBrA constellation, now speaking a new, borderless visual language. Their work carries the same expressive energy, with bold forms, tactile surfaces, and the powerful use of colour that once challenged tradition and defied the grey postwar order.
