Jeanne Opgenhaffen builds this work from hundreds of individually shaped porcelain petals, layered and overlapped in varying shades of aubergine to form a dense, undulating surface. Each petal is handmade and subtly distinct, so that repetition produces variation rather than uniformity, with shifts in tone and angle generating an impression of depth and movement across the plane. Enclosed in a plexi case, the piece is presented as an object in its own right, allowing light to pass through and animate the porcelain's texture throughout the day.
