Inner Armor sets a soft, pale centre within a darker, metallic-toned surround. Corine van Voorbergen builds the work on wood in successive layers of pigment, leaving a fine texture across the surface before sealing it beneath a thin, reflective coat of epoxy. The Dutch artist works intuitively and uses colour, depth and texture to give form to feeling; the title points to protection as an internal condition rather than an external shell, a reading the composition supports through its guarded gradation from light to dark. A hand-polished brass ring closes the 110 cm disc, the circular form through which she explores the idea of eternal movement.
