Guillaume Grando's reflection/refraction extends his ongoing engagement with fluid form into a suspended installation of individual resin droplets, each cast to catch and distort the light around it. Created for the artist's solo exhibition Microclimate at Forwart Gallery, 2026, the work is hung at varying heights and densities, so the elements read as a single body of water fractured into discrete, freestanding units, translating Grando's close relationship with the ocean and its shifting light into a spatial rather than pictorial register. Where his Surface and Depth paintings compress liquid movement onto a flat plane, this installation disperses it through three-dimensional space, allowing surrounding light and architecture to pass through and animate each form. The work treats reflection and refraction not as visual effects to depict, but as physical properties activated directly by the material itself.
