CD 45 is made from upcycled paper and magazines cut into strips and set in close horizontal rows across a field of 50 x 62 cm. Its colour comes entirely from the printed pages: dark tones dominate, broken by small flashes of red, yellow, blue and green where fragments of images and print appear along the edges of the strips. From a distance the surface reads as a dense, finely striped weave; up close, each strip keeps a trace of its former life as a page. The deep white frame isolates the work and sets off the density of its colour, giving this compact piece the presence of a block of matter.
